When I was asked what I thought about Benson’s Park my reply was “It’s the best thing about Hudson.”
I am originally from the New Jersey Shore where we had an animal amusement park called Great Adventures where you drove thru the park as the animals wandered around you.
Having moved to various places, even Europe for some years, I eventually moved to Hudson, the state my parents took us on enjoyable vacations.
After being transferred to Colorado for work for some years, I met my wife and we had a son before moving back to Hudson.
I spent many years in high tech managing major projects, finding time in
volunteering for various causes statewide trying to help my community and state leading the GSOP health care group trying to find ways for those who did not have health insurance to get affordable care.
We loved to walk our dogs and before Bensons opened, we would go to Nashua’s Mine Falls Park. Benson’s Park was a game changer the trails were made for great hikes with lots of smells for our hound dogs and as a photographer a place to take so many images. I contributed to the dog run watching the park become the place to walk your dogs.
After recently losing my wife, I decided to donate to the park with a bench and picnic table in her honor as we spent many hours even in the snow.
I found out they could use some help on the board to create the “Benson’s Wild Animal Farm Museum” a cause that would give something special to the community. As I discovered more about how great the park’s history was, I thought our kids should be proud of this park and I am glad to give my time to this cause. I was also impressed by the members of the board and their dedication to building this museum.
